M4 Engineering's Shakopee technical center is where structural analysis, CFD and thermal work, optimization and software development all land on the same programs. We work for the Department of Defense, NASA, and commercial customers on flight hardware for fighter jets, launch vehicles, spacecraft and next-generation air mobility.
We are looking for an engineer with a solid background in either structures or thermal analysis who wants to keep doing real engineering while also working directly with customers. You will own analysis tasks on funded programs, and you will be the technical voice in software evaluations, showing an engineering team how Simcenter, NX and Teamcenter solve a problem they already have. The people who do well here are rigorous about their own results, comfortable in front of a customer, and able to tell the difference between a demo that looks good and one that answers the question.
Responsibilities
- Own structural or thermal analysis tasks on funded aerospace and advanced technology programs, from preliminary trade studies through detailed analysis and documentation
- Perform finite element, thermal or CFD analysis in Simcenter 3D, Simcenter Nastran, STAR-CCM+ or FloEFD, and check the results with hand calculations
- Document analysis methods, assumptions and margins, and present results to internal teams and external customers
- Serve as the technical lead in software evaluations, working with the sales team to understand what a customer's engineers are actually trying to solve
- Build and deliver demonstrations and benchmark models in Simcenter, NX and Teamcenter that answer a customer's question on a problem they recognize
- Support customers after the sale with onboarding, workflow guidance and technical questions
- Bring what you learn on programs into how we demonstrate the software, and what you learn from customers back into how we do the engineering
- Represent M4 at customer sites, webinars, user groups and trade shows
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a closely related engineering field
- Minimum 2 years of structural or thermal analysis experience
- Finite element analysis experience required, or CFD and thermal analysis experience for candidates on the thermal side
- Ability to verify analysis results with conventional hand calculations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and comfort presenting to customers and leading a live demonstration
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits and events
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required
Nice to Have
- Experience with Siemens Simcenter 3D, Simcenter Nastran, STAR-CCM+, FloEFD, NX CAD or Teamcenter
- Composite structural analysis experience
- Prior experience in technical sales, applications engineering, customer support or training
- Optimization experience, including HEEDS
- Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN and/or C/C++
- Master's degree in a related field
